DW Español is de regionale versie van de officiële Duitse tv-zender Deutsche Welle voor Amerika. Het programma richt zich op nieuws en informatie en werd op 6 februari 2012 opnieuw gelanceerd. Het programma wordt uitgezonden via kabel en satelliet en geproduceerd in Berlijn. DW Español zendt programma's uit die zowel in Berlijn als in Latijns-Amerika zijn geproduceerd. In 2012 lanceerde het netwerk zijn eigen YouTube-kanaal. De Deutsche Welle-televisie begon op 1 april 1992 uit te zenden naar de hele wereld. De uitzendingen begonnen met zes uur dagelijkse satellietprogrammering in het Duits en Engels. Een paar maanden later werd de uitzending uitgebreid tot veertien uur, en in juli 1993 tot zestien uur per dag, waarna Spaans als derde taal aan de programma's werd toegevoegd. In februari 2012 vernieuwde Deutsche Welle zijn programmering, zenderbeeld en logo, en verhoogde het Spaanstalige signaal van twee naar twintig uur per dag. In september 2012 zag DW (Latijns-Amerika) het licht, dat de programmering uitbreidde tot 24 uur per dag.
