HSN, an acronym for its former name Home Shopping Network, is an American free-to-air television network owned by Qurate Retail Group, which also owns catalog company Cornerstone Brands. Located in the Gateway area of St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, the home shopping channel has former and current affiliate channels in several other countries. HSN operates 19 hours a day, 364 days a year (previously it tested the transmission of recorded programs for several hours at the cemetery, but was unsuccessful). During live broadcasts, the word "LIVE" is inserted above the on-air image in the upper right corner. HSN hosts stay on the air for 2-3 hours and present 5 to 10 products at a time. The channel typically ends its live Christmas holiday coverage at approximately 4:00 pm EST on Christmas Eve and returns live at 11:00 pm EST on Christmas Day. For the first twelve years, from noon on Christmas Eve to midnight on December 26, the cyclic Yule magazine was broadcast. The show allowed employees to go on camera with their families to say hello to relatives left at home.
