The station is owned by Fox Television Stations, a subsidiary of Fox Corporation. KTBC's studios are located on East 10th Street near the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin, and their transmitter is located at West Austin Antenna Farm in Mount Larson.
As of October 2021, KTBC currently broadcasts 53 hours of locally produced news each week, relative to the number of hours devoted to news programming, it is the largest local news production among television stations in the Austin market. KTBC Sunday 5:00 pm News is subject to preemption due to network sports coverage, as is standard on Fox stations that broadcast early-evening weekend news.
