Press TV is Iran's first international 24/7 television news network broadcasting in English. She began broadcasting in earnest in June 2007. Press TV has a strong workforce at its headquarters in Tehran, including journalists (consisting of staff from the press department, website, Tehran office, programming and documentary departments). Five offices in major cities in the world, namely London, Beirut, Kabul, Damascus and Baghdad, help Press TV not only to get international news faster, but also to communicate it more accurately. Press TV's mission is to offer a different perspective on world events, freeing the global media market from the domination of Western opinion; break down cultural divisions and emphasize the universality and vitality of political and cultural differences. The TV channel claims to be independent of any commercial or government entity. Press TV wants to compete, among others with Al Jazeera English, France 24 and Russia Today. Press TV broadcasts 24/7 news, program commentary and roundtable discussions, as well as documentaries.
