Realitatea TV is the former name of the Romanian news television channel Realitatea Plus. The channel started broadcasting in 2001 as a general profile television and became the first Romanian news television in 2002. Its owners are Romanian politician Cozmin Guşă and businessman Maricel Păcuraru.
After becoming insolvent in 2011 and bankruptcy in 2019, the channel lost its license on October 31, 2019. The channel began broadcasting on November 1, 2019, including advertising, on Realitatea Plus, a satellite channel launched in 2015. for the public outside Romania. Realitatea Plus has a slightly modified version of the previous Realitatea TV logo.
Realitatea TV's mission has been "to respect the information needs of its audience". The principles that guide its journalistic approach are objectivity, rigor and professionalism, and the values are truth, courage, sincerity and social responsibility, materialized in campaigns and projects. Viewers play a very important role in Realitatea's work; they are invited to comment on the news on the realitatea.net website, with the best comments being broadcast on air. Realitatea TV has also set up the "Eyewitness" service, which collects photos and videos taken by viewers and sent to Realitatea.
Realitatea TV has done both charity work, such as the telethon organised with World Vision, and various campaigns to address the needs of ordinary citizens, thus gaining the trust of the public.
