CGTN is a collection of international language news channels operated by China Media Group. It is based in Washington DC and operates bureaus in the Americas. The service employs US, international, and Chinese journalists and produces programs for the Americas with a focus on Asia for CGTN. It maintains a separate program schedule every day from noon to 19:00. MST (19:00 to 2:00 GMT) and, like its African counterpart, simulcasts the rest of the time by CGTN International. CGTN America is led by CEO Ma Jing and executive consultant is veteran Asian journalist Jim Laurie. It began broadcasting on February 6, 2012, replacing the former English language CCTV 9 in the region.
