Al Jazeera Media Network is a global news organization with 80 bureaus worldwide. The willingness of the original Arab channel Al Jazeera to broadcast dissent, such as in call-in programs, has caused controversy in the Gulf Arab states.
Al Jazeera Media Network is a public information channel under Qatari law. Under this structure, the channel receives funding from the Qatari government, but retains its editorial independence . Critics have accused Al Jazeera of supporting Qatari government positions, although Al Jazeera platforms and channels have published content that is critical of Qatar or contrary to Qatari laws and regulations. The network is sometimes seen as having a predominantly Islamist outlook, promoting the Muslim Brotherhood and having Sunni and anti-Shiite supporters Bias in its coverage of regional issues. Al Jazeera insists on covering all sides of the debate; for example, the network claims to present the views of Israel and Iran with equal objectivity.
