Africanews é o primeiro meio de comunicação pan-africano multilingue - produzido por e para africanos. A informação sobre e a partir de África terá uma nova voz: Africanews, um canal de notícias contínuo baseado em Pointe Noire, República do Congo. É o primeiro canal de notícias pan-africano, multilingue e independente a transmitir os seus programas em inglês e francês em 33 países subsaarianos. A nova emissora é uma subsidiária da Euronews - um grupo propriedade do bilionário egípcio Naguib Sawiris desde 2015 - e está empenhada em "contar a África através dos factos, evitando comentários, preconceitos ou ideias preconcebidas". O Africanews foi lançado em linha em Janeiro. Agora é transmitido via satélite e digital, bem como por emissoras locais. Será transmitido gratuitamente e oferecido gratuitamente aos proprietários de parabólicas por satélite durante os primeiros seis meses, mas depois utilizará um sinal codificado. Esta escolha foi motivada por necessidades económicas, mas poderia limitar o impacto e a visibilidade do Africanews porque a maioria dos telespectadores não pode pagar a televisão. A redacção conta com 85 pessoas de 15 países africanos e mais de 40 correspondentes.
