Republic TV has been the most-watched English-language news channel in India since its launch week. Founded by Arnab Goswami, Republic TV was launched on May 6, 2017. The channel was launched as a free-to-air channel through DTH services and cable TV operators across the country. Republic TV reportedly became the most-watched English-language news channel in India during its first week of broadcast in May 2017 with 21.1 lakh (2.11 million) impressions and accounted for 51.9% viewership according to data released for the week by the Broadcast Audience Research Council.
